About
Maia Culbreath, born and raised in Los Angeles, California, began her training at Pasadena Dance Theatre before attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Susan Jaffe. Maia danced with Richmond Ballet for two seasons as a trainee, where she danced corps and demi-soloist roles in Stoner Winslett’s The Nutcracker and Malcolm Burn’s Romeo and Juliet, and appeared as soloist in Gerard Ebitz’ Mourning Light. Maia joined Fort Wayne Ballet for their 2022-2023 season as a member of the corps de ballet, where she performed in Tracy Tritz’ Dracula and Karen Gibbons Brown’s The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, as well as Edward Stierle’s Concerto Con Brio where it was recorded for a PBS broadcast. She has attended summer courses at Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Maia is a New York City based dancer and currently dances with the Lydia Johnson Dance Company. She also teaches ballet at the Lydia Johnson Dance School.
A fun fact about Maia is that she sung on the 2010 major motion picture soundtrack of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
